Road Trip in Poland

Going on a trip to Europe, you should think over the route in advance, choose the transport, and decide on the place of residence. A properly organized trip will allow you to see the maximum of interesting things, because in Europe there are short distances, you just have to correctly allocate time. Therefore, it is most interesting to travel here by car. Freedom of movement, saving time and money, the ability to change your plans at any time – this is what the auto-tourist receives.

In our article you will tell you that it is better to see a car trip in Poland and how to organize your trip.

Best car routes in Poland
The traveler will not have to puzzle over the preparation of the route: on various forums and sites there are not just route descriptions, but also detailed maps and even files for navigators. It remains to drive and drive, and you can drive in this country from the age of 17.

One of the most successful routes for a short rest includes three magnificent Polish cities: Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclaw. You can visit them in just a couple of days, and this is the main advantage of this route. Each of the cities is not like the other, it is literally a city from different eras, each with its own culture. Therefore, such a route will allow you to see Poland from different angles. After a noisy and vibrant Warsaw, Krakow will pleasantly surprise you with tranquility, an abundance of cultural monuments and amazing architecture, Wroclaw will amaze you with a mixture of different cultures.

If time allows, you can have time to visit the main historical and cultural attractions. These are not just museums, these are magnificent castles, royal gardens filled with romance and riddles, magnificent towers, chic suspension bridges. You can start with the fortress of Zamosc and Royal Krakow, without them a trip to Poland simply could not take place.

Then you can go to the famous Wieliczka Salt Mine: this multi-story underground city has no equal in Europe.

The city of Torun will allow you to immerse yourself in the real Middle Ages, the local way of life, traditions fit perfectly into the ancient architecture.

After this, you should come to Malbork, which today is considered the main stronghold of knights and crusaders.

Some travelers also strongly recommend visiting the territory of Auschwitz, as it is an integral part of the modern history of not only the Polish people, but also all Europeans.

After this, you can relax in the beautiful Belovezhsky Reserve, which is famous for minimal human intervention in nature.

The journey can be completed in the Old Town of Warsaw, which was restored after the end of the war.

Travel by car or rent?
The first question that needs to be answered is whether a tourist in Poland needs an international driver’s license (ID) or an international driver’s license. The correct answer is no. Both Russia and Poland are parties to the 1968 Road Convention, therefore, both domestic rights and the rights of other states of the convention are recognized in these countries. If you have an IDP, take it with you, but you must have your rights.

The second question – your own car and rented? The most affordable option is to go to Poland with your own car. But you need to consider a fairly long road to Poland, which can take more than a day. Gasoline is expensive in the country, therefore it is better not to come here for powerful cars with high fuel consumption.

You can use car rental services. In this case, you save time on the road by traveling, for example, by plane to Warsaw – the capital of Poland. Car rental in Warsaw is very common, there are a lot of rental points, you can easily rent the model you need – a small hatchback, small car or a comfortable jeep. Roads in Poland are of good quality, so it is not necessary to rent an expensive car in order to travel in comfort. The cost of renting a car is quite affordable.

Another way to travel is caravanning (i.e. your own car-house, where you can spend the night staying at campsites or equipped parking lots). In Europe, this is a popular type of travel, because you save on an overnight stay. This travel option is relatively new, but it has many fans.

A material on car tourism in Poland was provided by the SIXT car rental network. SIXT stations in Poland include dozens of car rental locations (totaling more than 1200 rental locations in 105 countries). This is reliability, quality service, safety and confidence that your trip will be comfortable.
